Barèges
This an ideal ski holiday for singles in the Alpine ski resort of Barèges. The resort, at a height of 1250m, is set in the largest ski resort in the French Pyrenees, the Tourmalet ski area, where there are 100 kilometres of well-kept pistes set in a beautiful Alpine environment. The area is less well-known than the Alps and therefore less crowded and less expensive. Barèges is a traditional French Pyrenean mountain ski village with a lively but not rowdy atmosphere. The village of Barèges is set in a picturesque valley, surrounded by Alpine meadows, wooded slopes and snow-capped mountains. Why not join our group ski holiday for singles in this picturesque area.
Skiing in the French Pyrenees
Our group ski holiday for singles is based in Barèges, a relatively small and little-known ski resort in the French Pyrenees, a truly undiscovered gem. There are no large Tour Operators here. The French Pyrenees are wonderful for skiing with more snow annually than the Alps, due to the proximity to the Atlantic coast. Weather conditions are ideal for skiing, characterised by clear blue skies and plenty of snow. The resort has a long season from the beginning of December through to the end of March, with snow-making equipment to help ensure the snow is topped up whenever necessary. Our skiing area, is excellent for beginners, intermediate skiers and advanced skiers. There are gentle nursery slopes and beautiful, long stretches of wide runs throughout the Toumalet areas of Barèges and its newer twin, La Mongie. You will find a 100km of runs, 42 ski lifts and 69 pistes. Beginner to intermediate skiers have 24 green and 20 blue runs in five inter-connected ski areas whilst advanced skiers have 20 red and 5 black runs, and even the more adventurous have lots off off-piste opportunities. Every level of skier or snow-boarder is well catered for and group lessons, small or private lessons can be arranged for all abilities.
Relax and unwind at the Thermal Baths in Barèges
Barèges was first established as a spa resort (the thermal waters were first discovered in the 15th century), and the recently-refurbished thermal baths are just a short walk away from the hotel, offering a range of options for invigorating, relaxing or pampering yourself.
Accommodation: We stay half board in a small comfortable 2 star hotel right in the centre of Barèges village. All rooms are en suite. For much of the ski season you can ski back to the village via a blue-run through deciduous woodland or a green run following the river. Barèges is just a ten minute ride on the free ski bus to the slopes, which stops alongside our hotel. There are several ski and sports shops, a bakery, a cash point, post office and small super-market all close-by. Barèges has plenty of bars, cafés and restaurants offering good local cuisine. The village is lively, but is not a rowdy ski resort. Many people ski here to get away from the crowds in the Alps and to experience the relative peace of this traditional mountain village.

We head off for skiing / ski lessons and arrange to meet up for lunch and later over dinner we can exchange our days' experiences on the slopes.
