Andalucia Walking Holiday..
Andalucia in Southern Spain is one of the prettiest areas of Spain. We stay in Competa, one of the white mountain villages in the Tejeda National Park, just an hour's drive from Malaga airport. We have chosen this as our destination for a walking holiday for singles at Easter. At this time of year, the temperature is just right for walking. We walk on 5 days, with a choice of walk on several days on this singles walking holiday in Andalucia at Easter. The area is great for walking in the Sierras Tejeda and Almijarra with stunning scenery and views down to the sea and on a clear day to Morocco. Walks will take you through groves of olives, oranges, lemons, avocados, almonds and the muscatel grape, which is used to make the famous Competa wine. Competa is also known for its honey from bees, whose hives you will spot on the mountain walks. You will be captivated by butterflies, which can be seen taking pollen from the many varieties of wild flowers. The area is lush and green due to the system of irrigation channels used to water the terraces, where the villagers grow vegetables. Mules are still used to carry produce and wood for the fires. Life here is very peaceful and relaxing and ideal for the solo traveller.
We stay in several village houses in Competa all are close to the Plaza in the centre of the village. Some are several hundred years old. There are twin rooms, and some singles (there are no single supplements on this singles holiday). In the evenings, we eat out together in one of the many restaurants, which serve excellent food, with typical Andalucian dishes. The wine is good and cheap too.
The area is great for walking and great for photography. We walk on five days. On the first and last day we all walk together but on 3 days there is a choice of easier, shorter walk or longer harder walk. The shorter walks are at an easier pace. If you like walking and also enjoy eating typical local cuisine then this Andalucia walking holiday is an ideal singles holiday abroad for you.
On your free day, Nerja on the coast is within easy reach or you can choose to visit Granada and the Moorish Alhambra palace with its intricately carved ceilings and arches.
